Mounawar Abbouchi received her BA in English at the Lebanese American University in her hometown of Beirut, Lebanon and went on to get her MA in Comparative Literature at UGA. Her thesis was an edition and translation from Old French into Modern English of a medieval epic poem titled Yde and Olive. It was the first translation into Modern English and was published in Medieval Feminist Forum: A Journal of Gender and Sexuality in 2018 and is available to download from their website. The text deals with issues of gender and sexuality.
Her research interests include all things medieval, especially medieval French literature, folklore and fairy tales, gender and sexuality, representations of the Middle Ages in pop culture, adaptation and retelling, and translation.
