Welcome to the Comparative Literature graduate programs, where the diversity of our graduate faculty provides students with substantial opportunities to work with specialists in the literatures and cultures of western and eastern Europe, western and eastern Africa, Asia and the Indian subcontinent, and the Americas. Reflecting the interdisciplinary and intercultural nature of comparative studies, our faculty members also work with several disciplines and hold joint appointments in institutes across the Franklin College of Arts and Sciences, from the Center for Asian Studies to the African Studies Institute and the Latin American and Caribbean Studies Institute. In addition to strengths in intercultural studies, critical theory, translation, and world literatures, these faculty members’ research reflects transnational approaches to historical and contemporary issues. If you are a prospective student, I encourage you to browse our M.A. or Ph.D. program pages to learn about the dynamic interdisciplinary environment for literary studies that we offer here. Of course, please feel free to reach out to me via email for an informal conversation.
