Dr. Mildred Barya Speaks at COMPASS Lecture Series

The Comparative Literature Department welcomed Dr. Mildred Barya on February 20, 2020 to speak for the COMPASS Lecture Series. Dr. Barya is a writer and poet from Uganda. She is currently an Assistant Professor at The University of North Carolina-Asheville, teaching creative writing. Dr. Barya has been awarded the Pan African Literary Forum Prize for African Fiction and has gained recognition for her poetry. She has worked as a journalist and travel writer, as well as a Human Resource Advisor for Ernst & Young in Uganda.
